This month, I decided to finally try Nerd Block. I've seen so many reviews and they always look fun - I just wasn't sure when would be a good time. This month, I had seen some hints that it would include 2 Star Wars items AND that they teamed up with Comic-Con! Two of my favorite things! I knew this month was the month to try it.
This is the Official Fan Club magazine for Star Wars fanatics. Inside is all the information you'd want to know, including up-to-date news on the upcoming Episode VII, what the cast are up to and how the fans are showing their love. The cover is done by Jeffrey Brown, author and artist of Darth Vader and Son, among others. He'll be at Comic-Con in San Diego this year and he has a pretty lengthy interview in this issue. It also has a short blurb that was interesting to me - Dark Horse comics are ending their Star Wars comic series' in August and Marvel will be taking over. My roommate and I have all the Star Wars comics and the new issue next month will be the last in the series. Marvel recently got bought by Disney, as did Star Wars a couple years ago, so it's not terribly surprising that they're taking over the comic aspect as well. I'm tempted to subscribe to this but I don't know if I want to fork over the $49.99/year! |
This is the second of the two Star Wars items included in this month's box. I'm happy with getting the AT-AT out of all the possible vehicles. It'll look great with our other figurines in our livingroom. I can't imagine spending $10 on something like this but I love getting them in subscription boxes. I love all things Star Wars so I'm really okay with anything that could be included. |
This has been a little too much fun for me and my roommate so far... I swear we're 25 years old. These little foam discs won't do anything to a real zombie, but they are pretty fun to shoot at each other and the Darth Vader poster on our wall! I wish it came with more than two discs but they don't go too far so chasing after them in a small apartment isn't too bad. |
Since I can't find this shirt anywhere online except from Nerd Block subscribers - I can only assume this is an exclusive item? I'm not surprised we received this, since the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is coming out soon (btw, don't even get me started on how TERRIBLE that movie looks, it's ruining my childhood). BUT, either way, I LOVE this shirt! It's perfect and hilarious and awesome and I've loved the Ninja Turtles since I can remember. I will wear this shirt with pride. |
This. Is. Awesome! If I can't be at Comic-Con (sad face), the next best thing is to watch Morgan Spurlock experience it! I love Morgan's documentaries and I believe I've seen them all except this one. It's a couple years old (2012), but I just haven't come across it yet. I also really love that this one comes with mini figures of Stan Lee (!!!) and Harry Knowles (film critic/writer, Ain't It Cool News). Apparently, the set with Stan Lee is the most valuable (not surprising)! I'm very excited to watch this. It's the perfect item to receive with SDCC happening this weekend. I can live vicariously through Morgan and pretend I'm there! |
I highly recommend this subscription box to every nerd out there! They usually have a vast array of items included that you're bound to get something you love too!
