As if this is actually a spoiler to anyone - Loot Crate announced some things we can expect to see in October's FEAR crate!
SHOCKINGLY there will be exclusive Walkimg Dead items! They've also announced that there will be exclusive Capcom items as well. I would imagine this might be something having to do with Resident Evil? I'm sure I'll like the WD item but I don't believe I've be ever played any Capcom games.
Wjat so you think? Does this make up your mimd about signing up??

Hazel Lane is one of the most exciting boxes I've ever gotten because it seemed so out of my reach before. I found a great deal on Gilt City that made it relatively affordable for me so I had to sign up for a 3-month subscription. I couldn't wait to see what I'd get! This is my second month and this month, we travel into the southern comfort and hospitality of Charleston, South Carolina!
I just love their packaging. Plus, one of my favorite things is that they list all the items included on a makeshift plane ticket! So clever.
Vintage Affair Studio - Pineapple Pillow Case - Retail $25.00
This pillowcase was designed by and for Hazel Lane! Truly exclusive item! It's made from prewashed 100% canvas cotton and is absolutely adorable. The pineapple is the symbol for hospitality and is a signature symbol in Charleston. I can't wait to find a pillow to put in this so I can put it on display on our couch!
Dodeline Gold Foil Card - Retail $5.00
I'm not usually thrilled to receive greeting/thank you cards in subscription boxes because they're so easy to just go out and buy, but I always appreciate them because I should definitely write more letters to family and friends. have quite a hoard going now from all these boxes and this one is quite pretty! It was designed/created by a female founder.
WildFlour Pastry - Granola - Retail $6.00
I haven't tried this granola yet but I'm sure I'll get the perfect chance some afternoon at work when the 2:00 starvation hits! Apparently this was made by the very best pastry shop in town, according to locals and the travel industry.
This is definitely my favorite item in the box! I love this bracelet so much. It's so well made and adorable. Plus, I had seen the spoiler picture of this and other color options and I was hoping for the grey! It'll go with anything and everything! I'm actually wearing it right now - it's the perfect fit and not too bulky so wearing it while typing and using a mouse all day at work won't be uncomfortable at all. The wooden beads are so pretty when they catch the light too! Plus, I love when things come in cute little pouches like that!
This cutting board is really cute - I definitely don't want to cut anything on it! It'll be nicely displayed in my kitchen but no knife is getting near it. I love bamboo too, the look of it is so nice!
This item wasn't listed on the card so I think it might just be a nice bonus item. Either way, I love tea so the more the merrier. I do remember seeing the Tea Plantation as a little spoiler on Instagram so I'm surprised it wasn't a more featured item.
As cute as these would be holding salt and sugar, if I had sugar out for too long I'd have an ant infestation, so these will go in my bathroom. I already have a bunch of shells around my bathroom sink so these will be a lovely addition. Plus they're gold! These shells were picked up along a little island in Charleston Harbor.
This was a really adorable box this month and it really does scream southern hospitality and the laid back lifestyle they're known for. All the items were very charming and elegant with comfort in mind. I thought the curation was really great.
I'm really sad that I only have 1 more Hazel Lane Deluxe box before I have to say goodbye! :( I'll definitely miss this one when it's gone - but I do have one more month left so I'll be back to let you all know where we're traveling to in October!
If you'd like to sign up, there are several different subscription options to choose from:
Classic - $46.99 (shipping included)
Deluxe - $69.99 (shipping included)
Uber Deluxe - $114.99 (shipping included)
G5 - $179.99 (shipping included)
They also have these options geared towards ladies or gents. Or, if you like what you've already seen, they offer previous cities' boxes in their Shoppe. This box is the Deluxe and had a total retail value of $73.00 - which isn't too bad. It's not the highest I've seen but I do like all the items and some of them are things I could never get without this box or traveling to Charleston myself so that definitely adds value.
Loot Crate is one of my regular subscription boxes because I can't seem to give it up. They announce the next month's theme ahead of time to give plenty of time for anxiously awaiting your crate! They've kust announced October's theme!
"This month is all about the spooky, creepy and scary parts of your favorite geek & gaming franchises. October’s crate will be packed with scare-iffic coolness, including exclusive items you won’t find anywhere else. And that’s not all: Anticipate the return of a t-shirt to join several other epic items within our FEAR crate! We’re DEAD-icated to delivering an awesome crate this month."
I can't say I'm surprised since this is October, there had to be a Halloween related theme! I actually haven't decided if I'll be getting this one or not. The fact that it includes a t shirt is definitely incentive because they usually alone cover the cost of the box. I'll think about it but I think this will be a good one for sure!
If you'd like to sign up, head over to www.lootcrate.com. Subscriptions are only $13.37 + $6.00 shipping (within the US). Make sure to use promo code 'SAVE10' to save 10% on any new subscription!
I got an email from Dottiebox that said the mini boxes were still available and that they were having a free shipping sale. Normally a mini box is $10 plus $3 shipping.
For $10, I knew I could get 3 items and most likely enjoy them because Dottiebox almost always sends nice things. I didn't have a whole lot of extra money at that time to try any new boxes so I thought I could do $10 and see what I got.
The last time I got a mini box I am pretty sure it was shipped quickly and I received it in just a few days. This one seemed to take a little longer and probably took a week or more.
Handmade fabric key fob made with high quality 100% cotton fabrics . Easily fits around wrist for a convenient way to keep car keys handy. Made with 100% Cotton designer fabrics this wristlet is soft and comfortable to wear around your wrist. Key fob is also reinforced with interfacing for stability. Wristlet band is 1"wide and 10" long forming a 5" loop with nickel hardware
I think this is really cute and I'm sure I'll end up using it. I like the pattern and the feel of it.
One 8 oz bottle with flip top cap. ~Our body lotion is the perfect mix of skin loving oils, soothing aloe vera and moisturizing shea butter. Not to heavy, it sinks in beautifully and leaves your skin soft with out feeling greasy or sticky. ~Paraben Free ~No Mineral Oil or Dyes ~Vegan Friendly
I was really happy to get some of this body lotion. I've been eyeing all of the different scents on the Suny Island Blu site but just didn't want to pay that much in case I didn't like it. It feels and smells delicious!
This is a pure beeswax candle approximately 2" tall and 1.75 ounces of beeswax, shaped like a beehive. Beeswax has an aroma that is wholly natural and burns longer, cleaner, and brighter than other types of candles. These candles are unscented, featuring only the clean, natural, sweet aroma of pure beeswax and honey as it is harvested from our beehives. The beeswax is harvested as part of our honey extraction process during the summer, and is later cleaned, melted down, and poured into molds to create these beautiful little candles.
From what I could tell, I think these free shipping boxes might have been made up of previous month's items because it's not the true September box. There was no description card in the box like there normally is, which is another indicator that it's a limited box that is most likely depleting old inventory. Even so, I like the items that I got. I looked back at June's box and it had the key chain and the candle and that was it, so I'm ahead of the game by getting the lotion too and free shipping!
You can sign up for a monthly subscription which is $20 a month plus shipping. Or you can purchase mini boxes and you can either sign up for a monthly subscription or buy on a month to month basis. The mini box is $10 plus $3 shipping.
I know, I know.. another Nerd Block post, but I really do have a real spoiler this time!
The first item in October's box is...
A limited edition Deadpool figure!! I'm excited about this because I'm trying to get more into Deadpool. My roommate always talks about how funny he is and we have a few comic books. I'm sure this figure will be a welcome addition to our collection!
What do you think of the first spoiler??
Make sure you sign up by October 15th to receive this and all the other items Kevin Smith is choosing for his Collide: Marvel vs. DC Comics theme. Head over to www.nerdblock.com to sign up! Boxes are only $19.99 + shipping ($9.50 for US subscribers). Use the promo code 'NERD' to save 10% on your first box.
I know I've posted a lot about Nerd Block lately but we might have some more sneak peeks of Kevin Smith's selections! Now, I can't guarantee these at all reflect what will be in the box, but I have to share what I can with you all.
Nerd Block has been posting these everday and I can't imagine they'll stop at all before the subscriptions close for October, so it could be arbitrary but they could also be what to look forward to!
What do you think of these possible teasers?? Who are you looking forward to seeing included?
If you'd like to sign up to find out, head over to www.nerdblock.com and use the promo code 'NERD' to save 10% on your first box!
I was definitely looking forward to this month's Nerd Block because I knew that classic TMNT and Guardians of the Galaxy were included. I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed overall. Maybe I had gotten my hopes up too high - but this box sort of feels like it would have been better suited as a Nerd Block Jr. I definitely don't feel like it lives up to my own and anyone else's hype in general.
Marvel Mystery Figure - Venom - Retail $2.00?
I cannot find a value for these anywhere because I guess you can only buy a whole case of them? Either way, I dunno how I feel about this. I got Venom (a character I don't really care about) and it sort of seems like something my brother would have played with when he was 6 years old - not really something I would even put on display anywhere. Just seems a little cheap to me, I guess?
To celebrate Nerd Block's 1 year anniversary, they've included a squishy stress brain. Again, not impressed. I know it's just a fun little extra for everyone but it's just stiff foam, not even normal stress ball material.
Again, can't find a value for just one blind box because they all come in cases of like 24 - but anyway. I don't know anything about Scribblenauts but I did know that it would be included in this month's box so I wasn't surprised. I do like that I got Batman though - or something like Batman... with fangs?
Sounds of the Galaxy T Shirt - Retail $20.00?
I do like this T-shirt but I also received a note that said because of some stocking issues, they were unable to provide me with the size I requested. I wanted a small and ended up getting a medium - way too big - so this goes to my roommate! Luckily he likes it too so it won't go to waste. Unfortunately, this is the only GotG item in the box.
Giant Microbes - STD Plush - Retail $9.95
I would never pay 10 dollars for a stuffed STD - but that's okay. Because this is September's box, their thought was to educate students going back to school. I hardly think making deadly diseases into cuddly little toys is educational...
Somehow this item was dubbed by the Nerd Block staff as the top NB item of 2014. I found this on Amazon for about $20.00. This is probably great for a kid that will actually play with it but for a Ned Block Classic - this just doesn't fit in my opinion. It was fun to put together but now I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. If I had an empty shelf, I might just set it up somewhere but I don't really have anywhere for it to go. Maybe I'll find a place, because I do really like TMNT. This was just one of the reasons I wanted this box and I can't help but feel letdown.
As a consolation for not providing the size of shirt I had requested - they included what turned out to be the only item I really liked! This is a popular selection on ShirtPunch, free of charge. This one is actually in my size so I'm keeping this one! Turns out it was actually a good thing they couldn't provide my size - now my roommate and I both get a shirt!
Overall - definitely not impressed this month. I'm pretty much banking on Kevin Smith making next month AWESOME because I would have cancelled my subscription after this one. I'm actually really excited about monthly themes. Although, it didn't really help that I knew what to expect this month because the items themselves just really didn't cut it for me. I was really excited about GotG and TMNT. This box costs $19.99 (+$9.50 shipping) and I received about $55.00 worth of items (about $65.00 including the extra T-shirt) which is a great value, but I feel like they could have picked way better items for the Classic box. I really felt like this was a Jr. box by accident. Judging by the comments on their facebook page, I'm not the only one that was really let down by this month. Did you like this month's box? Are you looking forward to next month and themes to start in January? If you'd like to see what Kevin Smith will pick for his COLLIDE: MARVEL VS. DC COMICS theme next month, make sure you get your subscriptions in by October 15th! Head over to www.nerdblock.com and sign up! >>--> Kelli <--<<
As promised, I am very excited to announce the theme that Kevin Smith has chosen for October's Nerd Block! This box will be a taste test for the coming monthly themes starting in January 2015. I am actually more excited for this box than I was when I found out that Kevin Smith will be choosing the items inside!
This might even be a bit of a sneak peek!
COLLIDE - MARVEL VS. DC COMICS!
I would expect nothing less from a Comic Book Man! I'm extremely excited for this box! My roommate and I are hooked on comic books and anything with the 'vs.' type storyline always catches our eye so this will most likely be a huge hit in our house.
This box will be a taste test for the coming monthly themes due to arrive in January 2015. I thought I was excited when I heard Kevin Smith was picking the items but no one can carry this theme better than him! Themes are already becoming a big topic for debate among Nerd Block subscribers but I think they're off to a great start with this one.
What do you think?? Are you excited for themed boxes?
If you'd like to sign up, subscriptions are now open for October. Head over to www.nerdblock.com to sign up! Subscriptions are only $19.99 + shipping ($9.50 for international subscribers - they're based in Canada)
As more and more subscription boxes are catering to the millions of nerds of the world, Nerd Block has heard comments and requests and THEMES are coming January 2015! Especially with their recent launch of Arcade Block and Horror Block, they've noticed that the original Classic Nerd Block may have lost its identity.
And as I've said before, Kevin Smith will be selecting the theme and items included in October's Nerd Block! Very, very excited for this one! I think Kevin will do a great job! October's theme will be announced tomorrow, October 22nd, so stay tuned for that announcement here! I may have said this before, but with this new change, I'll say it again. Any box that has themes that are announced ahead of time - I think should have an option to skip-a-month. I think that's a vital part of this type of box. Much like Loot Crate, if you don't like the theme that most, if not all, items will be based around, you probably won't like that box! You should be able to easily skip a month without having to cancel/reactivate/cancel/reactivate your subscription. So I hope they will initiate this type of subscription option in the future! I think they're subscribers will really appreciate it - and I doubt it will lose them any money in the long run. The convenience of it alone will keep people from just cancelling outright. Make sure you get your subscription in for October to receive items handpicked by Kevin Smith! Head over to www.nerdblock.com now! Boxes are only $19.99 plus shipping ($9.50 for international subscribers - they are based in Canada) What do you think of Nerd Block adding themes? Do you think they should let subscribers skip themes they may not like? >>--> Kelli <--<<
Loot Crate came earlier than I expected, but that's always okay with me! I was really looking forward to this one. Star Wars, Firefly, plus Star Trek and Alien - how can you go wrong?? This month's theme was Galactic! I can't seem to get rid of this subscription. I did a couple months ago when I wasn't crazy about the theme but I always end up wanting to reactivate again. They've gotten so good lately!
Lucasfilm Ltd. - Star Wars Poster 9x27" - Retail $9.99
I estimated the price based on similar sized posters (same Han Solo poster, different sizes) I found online. Lemme just say I absolutely love this! It's not terribly big but it goes GREAT on our livingroom wall with all our other Star Wars memorabilia! Great new addition!
I'm not sure how to put a value on this either because it's from Loot Crate Labs! But it's awesome!! I love the mashup and how subtle it is! This immediately went on our fridge!
Dark Horse Comics - Bonus Digital Loot - Retail $4.99?
I wish I had tried to use this redemption code with a bundle other than Halo to see if it worked because I really don't care about Halo. Did anyone try this with another bundle? Did it work? Either way, when you sign up for a Dark Horse account, you're given 5 comic books automatically in your collection, so that's pretty awesome!
Pop Rocks - Retail $1.00?
This is just a filler item and something I used to be obsessed with as a kid! I'm not crazy about green apple, but that's okay.
Quantum Mechanix - Firefly Bank Robbery Money - Retail $9.00
The Quantum Mechanix website shows this money coming in a black box with a map of the Burnham Quadrant, but this is only the money in bundle, so I lowered the retail value that I found a bit. This is pretty awesome though - I absolutely love Firefly so anything having to do with the show or Serenity is FINE BY ME. I'm so glad Loot Crate has decided to honor Firefly like it deserves. This includes 6 500's and 6 100's.
The Quantum Mechanix website has a brown Tribble listed but this is an exclusive Looter edition! The packaging says "This Tribble was bred exclusively for Loot Crate. Its color and package are unique and only available to Looters" as well as warnings to "Keep out of reach of Klingons", "Do not block ventilation grill" and "Please do not feed." I like all the exclusive stuff Loot Crate gets their hands on! It really adds to the value of the items we receive (like the LC exclusive Groot we got last month!) I know subscribers really appreciate their items feeling special! I don't know a lot about Star Trek, to be honest, but I DO know about Tribbles! This is one item I like!
I really like the vintage feel of this action figure! It's actually based on the 1979 prototypes that were never made! They did a great job with making the packaging feel like the real deal. I apologize for the not-great picture, but I've decided to leave this guy in his packaging because it looks so cool! I don't want to lose that vintage feel. I hope I don't regret that decision because the back of the packaging says that you can remove the translucent dome on his head revealing a lever that puts the lower jaws into action! You can slide his teeth in and out of his mouth - PLUS his head glows in the dark! Now I wanna play with it!
Funko & 20th Century Fox - Alien Re-Action Figure - Retail $14.99
This is another Loot Crate Exclusive item! If you look at the image in the checklist on the back (also pictured to the right), Mal is actually holding his pistol instead. This is one of my favorite items in the box because I was definitely looking forward to Firefly items the most! Plus, who doesn't love Mal?! He's awesome and hilarious. Definitely a great addition to all our other figures!
ALSO - they've done it again with their awesome box designs! Mal fits in perfectly with the loading bay of Serenity! And I Spy a little R2-D2 in there (which, hello - would be awesome!) Very well done, LC!
This is a really great one this month! I'm so glad they finally included Firefly! I actually really like most of the items I got so I'm very pleased. This box costs $13.37 + $6.00 shipping and this one had a total retail value of at least $60.00!! That's an incredible value - and this box was actually the most PACKED I've ever seen with a total of EIGHT items! They've been doing a great job with getting awesome exclusive items to set them apart from every other piece of memorabilia around and we definitely appreciate it! September crates are already sold out - but you can go reserve your October crate now! If you want to sign up for Loot Crate, head over to www.lootcrate.com - use the coupon code 'SAVE10' to save 10% on any new subscription! >>--> Kelli <--<<
