As soon as I saw this word, I emailed LC to reactivate my subscription (I skipped March because I don't know anything about Titanfall)! My first thought was, of course, Game of Thrones so I was excited to see that's precisely what will be included! I don't know much about Elder Scrolls but that's okay! Plus, each month one lucky subscriber will win the Mega Crate - this month is the most valuable Mega Crate yet!

Taste Guru has a team that finds, tastes and evaluates a huge assortment of gluten-free food from all over the world. Members receive a box of 6+ gluten-free goods each month. After discovering I have an intolerance to gluten, I've been experimenting with different products. Eating only meat, vegetables and fruit is easy but there is always the desire to bring back some of the convenience of some processed foods. Most stores carry quite a few gluten-free products now so you surely do not need a service like this. This is purely indulgent for me. Taste Guru is $34 a month for 3 months, $29 a month for 6 months or $25 a month for a 12 month subscription, so when I came upon a Groupon deal for a 3 month subscription for $37 I jumped right on it! This box is the first of my 3 month subscription. Cook Simple - All American Sloppy Joe with pinto beans and carrots This all-American sandwich has been jazzed up with plump pinto beans, colorful carrots and tasty tumeric. Instructions are to brown 1 lb of ground turkey, add sloppy joe mix, 3 1/2 cups of water and 6 oz of tomato paste. Calories - 140 - 4 servings per box Personally I'm a Manwich person if I were to have sloppy joes and if I remember correctly, they are only 35 calories per serving. I'll give this a try but I don't think it's something I would seek out and buy. I do like the idea of adding the beans to it though and I could do that with any other recipe. More importantly the issue here for me would be - what would I put this on? Am I going to spend $6 on some crappy gluten-free bread? Or would I just find something else to put it on? Enjoy Life - Soft Baked Bar - S'Mores I know that in the paleo, gluten-free and grain-free community that the Enjoy Life products are a big hit but I have to say they don't really impress me that much. If I'm going to indulge in chocolate then it's going to be Ghirardelli dark and sweet chocolate or any chocolate from Trader Joe's! If you're going to indulge, you might as well do it up right. My husband and I shared this bar and it was just ok. I've had much worse for sure, but I would not go out of my way to find this and purchase it. Bakery on Main - Peanut Butter Chocolate Granola Bars These bars from Glastonbury CT look really good and I think these will get consumed with no problem. These are the perfect type of thing to have around and grab for on the go snacking. That being said, Nature Valley has some terrific peanut butter and dark chocolate protein bars that work just as well and are probably easier to obtain. The box has 5 bars in it and they are 170 calories each. RW Garcia - Tortatos These chips are made from potato and corn and have 25% less fat than regular potato chips. They are made from a blend of red potatoes and white corn. They taste a lot like potato chips and a little like tortilla chips. Good for dips or crunching right out of the bag. Again - regular chips and corn chips are already gluten-free so I don't really see the necessity of this type of chip unless it's specifically what you're looking for. Have you looked at the ingredients for Frito-Lays corn chips? There are 3 - Corn, Corn oil and Salt. It doesn't get much simpler than that - yet these types of products have a long list of things that seem like it took a lot of work to create something that was unnecessary! It just makes me wonder at what else you are ingesting in your quest to be gluten-free - what might you be taking in that is not needed. 150 calories per 11 chips Intelligent Protein Snacks - Egg White Chips OMG - I don't even know what to say about these. I admit I have not tried them yet - mostly because I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. They take corn, egg whites and other all natural ingredients and blend them to crunchy perfection with their patent-pending Pressure-Puff process. The result is a wholesome snack so light and tasty you won't believe you're getting healthy egg white protein in every bite. These have the potential to be really good - and I will find out once I get passed the thought of them being egg whites. Maybe they are kind of like pork rinds? Or Cheetos! I could get on board with that. 130 calories per serving (34 chips) - protein is 7 grams. I guess that makes it a pretty good for you snack. Keen One Quinoa - Garden Medley Quinoa is one of the latest superfoods. I don't hate it but I do have a little trouble with the texture. Personally I prefer rice but I like to change it up once in awhile so this package will be a nice change at some point. This is a pre-washed, quick cooking, seasoned meal or side dish that can be easily prepared. Well, looking this review over it seems like I didn't like much from this box! That's not entirely true. I enjoyed getting this box and seeing what they sent. I just think that the whole "gluten-free" craze has spawned a lot of companies to jump on the band wagon and try to make some more money. Many gluten-free items may not have gluten in them but they have tons of other not so nice ingredients in them, and usually lots more sugar, in order to make them taste good. So you really have to do your homework. If you don't eat anything from a package you would not be ingesting any gluten anyway. It's not hard. There are just times when you wish you could have the convenience of being able to eat something quick that's not fruit or a vegetable. For instance, I really, really missed pretzels and I was lucky enough to find some delicious gluten-free ones that I really like. Of course, they cost over $1 more than regular pretzels! That's the way of all gluten-free shelf foods. You just have to be diligent and read the labels. Make sure you're not taking in a lot of other ingredients that you don't want just to avoid gluten.
I'm happy to have this 3 month subscription so that I may get introduced to some products that I may not have thought or encountered yet. I know that I don't need any of them. If you're interested in Taste Guru, you can visit their web site at https://www.tasteguru.com. I would suggest also checking out Groupon though for great deals like I got. And if anyone has a great gluten-free pizza dough recipe that is like the real thing I would love to hear from you! I would really love one that I could do in the bread machine, that would be ideal. ~~ Sharon ~~ Cate & Chloe arrived today! They have a team that travels the country visiting green markets and family farms in search of the most incredible flavors to share. Don't you feel sorry for the people who have that job? Sounds really rough! When you open the box, each item is wrapped in textured brown paper, so you get to open each item and savor the surprise inside! Also included is a fold out card that explains what each item is and where it comes from and the people behind the product. There is also a code to use for free shipping to get any of the products in full size from their web site. OLE MAN'S ORIGINAL BLEND SPICE RUB New Orleans LA This smoky, sweet, spicy mix brings you the time-tested flavor of Kansas City barbecue. This product is created by a former marine and Hurricane Katrina survivor name Joe Threat. CAUSEY'S BBQ SAUCE - Sweet and Smoky Atlanta GA This Georgia style barbecue sauce gets sweetened up with molasses and brown sugar, and the subtle smoky flavor comes from real smoked wood, never artificial flavor. John Causey created his signature sauce for the Big Pig Jig barbecue competition in 1985. A lifelong volunteer firefighter and chief cook for the Vienna Fire Department, he drew inspiration from a family friend's old recipe. After winning countless competitions, he collaborated with his daughter to to bottle the sauce and they serve it in their restaurant. CALIVIRGIN JALAPENO GARLIC OLIVE OIL Lodi CA Fresh garlic and jalapeno peppers are crushed with olives, resulting in an unfiltered extra virgin oil full of bold flavor. Calivirgin is a family run business who have been farming in California for four generations. LA FUNDIDORA FUEGO SALSA Brooklyn NY Fuego is a traditional red salsa, balancing fresh tomatoes and tomatillos with Mexico-grown guajillo and arbol chiles. Salsa-alchemist Lorena Meschoulam travels to small towns throughout her native Mexico to source authentic products to create her salsa in small batches to ensure maximum flavor. POTLICKER KITCHEN STRAWBERRY CHIPOTLE JAM Bethel VT Strawberry Chipotle Jam has just enough of a hint of smoky, spicy chipotle pepper to keep things interesting. During a particularly icy Vermont winter, Nancy Warner ran out of fresh fruit at her restaurant and was forced to experiment with what she had on hand: beer and wine. Shortly after, a new line of jellies and jams were born, with very few ingredients (locally sourced, when possible). BIG ISLAND BEES OHIA LEHUA HONEY Captain Cook HI This delicately mild honey comes from the Lehua blossom, found only in Hawaii. Its uniquely cream texture is owed to natural crystalization. Garnett Puett and Whendi Grad are true honey artisans, creating beautifully unique honeys from three distinct blossoms on the island of Hawaii. Three times a year, their bees are carefully transported to different locations on the island to harvest pollen and nectar. The result: single-floral honeys that are as pure, rare, and unadulterated as the finest wine. I think all of these items are excellent and I really can't wait to try each one. When we go on vacation, these types of products are the exact thing I seek out and bring back with me from each place. I just love to try them - even if they are not good (that banana ketchup from St. Lucia is still in the fridge) - it's the fun of trying something new. With this type of box it seems like I can do it without even leaving home! Of course, I'd much rather go on vacation and do this, but until the next time, this seems like a pretty cool way to go. Hatchery costs $20 a month and each month they send you 5 - 6 artisan ingredients, recipes and discounts. All of the products are available to purchase if you find something you want more of. They also have a culinary concierge support team who are available to answer any product related questions and recommended recipes you may have. They are available by phone and online chat. These people are serious about this! To subscribe, you must request an invite and it says there is about a week wait, but I think mine came in only a couple of days. I also used the coupon code of SAVE10 which saves you $10 and makes your first box only $10. Shipping is free. I originally thought I would get just one month, but now I'm intrigued. I just may hang on for another and see where this takes me. If you would like read about Hatchery, please visit their site at http://shophatchery.com/pages/box ~~ Sharon ~~ Eco Emi showed up today! I didn't even realize that it was coming. Somehow the Post Office got this here fast - or I got the notification that it was shipped, late! Either way - it has arrived...and the theme this month is Girls Just Want to Have Fun! Things to just kick back and relax and have fun like you did when you had slumber parties as a kid. Again, the packaging is really cute with sparkly confetti inside and that bright pink bag. This is probably the most different box I have received from them so far. RED POPCORN BY KITTS KERNELS - $6.25/1.5 lb bag This flavorful popcorn is a great choice for movie night! Each kernel is non-GMO and grown naturally, enhancing the corn flavor. Also included is a coupon code for 15% off an order at Kitts Kernels. I am not too picky about popcorn. It's one of my very favorite snacks, especially when I cook it myself on the stove or in my popcorn popper with, none other than coconut oil, -- so yummy! This will certainly get put to good use - and probably soon! http://www.etsy.com/shop/KittsKernels ALMOND BAR BY KULI KULI - $2.89/bar Sourced from West Africa, this sweet and salty snack bar is filled with a nutritious and medicinal plant called Moringa, making it gluten-free and vegan. Made with simple and understandable ingredients, this bar provides the protein, iron and calcium you need throughout the day. I've never heard of moringa - another thing I have to look up! Regardless, anything with almonds is usually delicious and I imagine that I will be eating this tomorrow. It's coming to work with me! http://www.kulikulibar.com/ SHEA BUTTER BY KARITEX - $10.00 Organic and 100% raw, this Shea Butter is a must! It naturally contains vitamin A, which aids in restoring a number of skin conditions. Perfect for treatment of minor cuts or scrapes. Shea Butter accelerates the healing process. I was surprised to see the size of this thing! It's really quite big. Maybe this will help with my eczema. Not much seems to help except some ointment from the dermatologist that is not good for your liver. http://shop.karitex.com/ 2N1 LIP THERAPY AND CUTICLE TREATMENT BY THE LANO COMPANY - $5 Infused with jojaba, coconut, and sweet almond oils, this applicator helps alleviate dry and chapped skin by replenishing moisture. It is in a great travel sized tube making it convenient to use on the go, great for overnight relief as well. I had to double check this because I thought it was interesting that it's for lips and cuticles, but sure enough - that's what it says on the tube! http://www.thelanocompany.com/ DAWN LIP GLOSS BY PURELY YOU MINERALS - $8.00/1 tube If you want to go for a more natural look, Dawn is the perfect shade for you. This vegan lip gloss contains all natural vitamins, oils and minerals. http://www.purelyyouminerals.com/ ECO-BEAUTY WATERPROOF MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES BY LA FRESH ECO-BEAUTY NAIL POLISH REMOVER PADS BY LA FRESH There isn't much to say about these because they are pretty self explanatory but I do want to mention that the nail polish remover is a FRESH TUSCAN ORANGE SCENT! My husband hates the smell of nail polish remover so I am wondering if I will be able to slip this one by him! This was another successful box from Eco Emi. I like this box alot and will probably use mostly everything. This month just feels weird because usually I am eagerly anticipating it's arrival and this month it just showed up with no warning! I had no time to anticipate. I like that this box included a couple of foods too. Sometimes it's all cosmetics.
Eco Emi is $15 a month. If you would like to learn more about them, please visit http://www.ecoemi.com/ ~~ Sharon ~~ LOVE WITH FOOD arrived this week! This month's theme is Flavors of the World. Each item originates from a different area. Each box purchased also provides a meal to a hungry child in the US. You give some - you get some! CASSAVA CHIPS BY WAI LANA Made in Hawaii from nutrient-rich cassava, these gluten-free, non-GMO chips contain 30% less fat than regular chips. I have to admit that I had to look up to see what cassava was. I had not heard of it before. It is also called yuca or tapioca root. I guess it's where tapioca comes from. I used tapioca flour and now this makes sense and I know where it comes from. Cassava is a starch so it makes sense that it would get used like potato here. These will be interesting to try. This bag is Sea Salt & Vinegar flavor - yum! They also come in Pizza, Barbeque, Lime Chili, Thai Curry & Lime, Swiss Cheese, Herb & Garlic, Natural, Sweet & Sour and French Onion. Wow! That is a lot of different flavors. www.wailana.com PASTA CHIPS BY VINTAGE ITALIA Pasta chips are made with Durum Wheat Seminola Flour, italian herbs and are baked, not fried. These are Marinara flavored. Since these are made with wheat, I will probably only try one and pass them on. Truthfully, it's not something that looks that interesting to me anyway. www.pastachips.com SHORTBREAD FINGERS BY WALKERS A Scottish tradition since 1898. Walker's still uses the same family recipe and just 4 simple, all-natural ingredients. These also contain wheat, but guess what? I'm going to eat them anyway because I LOVE SHORTBREAD! I have loved shortbread for as long as I can remember and it's something I have a hard time resisting. We can buy this in any store so it would have been cool if they had found something else "Scottish" but maybe not everyone can get it where they live? www.walkershortbread.com TACO & BURRITO SEASONING BY DESERT GARDENS Head south of the border, and put some kick into your tacos, burritos or nachos with this all-natural spice blend. I like these spices. I have gotten some other seasonings from this company in other boxes. This will get put to good use. Who doesn't love Mexican food?! www.comfortfoods.com CHAI SPICE MACAROONS BY EMMY'S ORGANICS An American classic gets a makeover with organic ingredients and Indian chai spices including cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and clove. Now I love macaroons, but chai spiced ones? I'm not so sure about these, but I definitely will enjoy trying them and see what they taste like. It's hard to top a well done macaroon so I have my doubts, but I have been proven wrong, over and over and over again in my life! There's no reason to think that this time would be any different. The whole reason for getting the box is to try new things, right? www.emmysorganics.com LOLLIPOPS BY PIERROT GEORMAND These all-natural lollipops, adored by generations of French children, are the perfect little indulgence for any time of day. The flavor of this lollipop is Milky Grenadine. What? What would that even taste like? This is something that French children like? This should be interesting. As I've said though, this is why I like these boxes because this is not something I would ever try otherwise. What if it becomes my favorite flavor of all time? I would never had known about it otherwise. www.simplygourmand.com GINGER CHEWS BY CHIMES The uniquely intense ginger grown in the Mt. Bromo, Indonesia, gives these candies their signature kick. I'm not a huge fan of ginger. I've had ginger chews from Trader Joe's and I couldn't eat them. Pretty yucky. I know ginger is supposed to be good to settle your stomach. The yellow one has a mango flavor, so maybe that one will taste a little better. I will try these just for the adventure but I'm just saying - I will probably not like them! Haha! www.chimesgourmet.com EARL GREY TEA BY TAYLORS OF HARROGATE An English classic from Taylors, an official supplier to the British royal household. Well earl grey tea isn't too exciting and I would have preferred something more unusual for the English selection - like maybe some Dip Dabs! I'm just saying!!! www.taylorsofharrogate.co.uk Also included, were some coupons for the items found within. Most boxes will include some type of coupon or a discount code to use on the company's web site. I like this box and will enjoy most everything in there. I'll have fun trying those new tastes too. I look forward to this one each month. It's inexpensive and it's a lot of fun to see what you'll get. With each box purchased, a hungry child gets a meal, so you're doing some good and getting some good.
Love with Food is $12 a month if you pay monthly or you can purchase subscription plans that make it a little cheaper. They also have a Deluxe box that comes with twice the amount of items in it that is $19.95 a month and cheaper with a subscription. Please visit www.lovewithfood.com to read more about the company. ~~ Sharon ~~ Lily and Eve has revealed their theme for the April box! And here's a sneak peek of what will be in the box! I haven't looked at it because I would much rather be surprised, but HERE it is if you wanna check it out!
If you'd like to sign up, you can click the picture above - it's only $19.99 a month, plus $4.99 shipping! You'll receive 2-3 artisan crafted items each month! Enjoy! >>--> Kelli <--<<
There's even a 20% off promo code so I might have to order a replacement so I'm not completely heartbroken again!
I'm very happy with this month's box! I'm glad I chose this month to try it! I really wish I could continue to get this one every month but I don't know if I have it in the finances. I'm definitely going to get another in the near future though!
I had used a coupon code for $10.00 off so I paid $29.95 for this box. In total, I received over $150.00 in value!! That's amazing! And I'll definitely use the majority of the items in the box so that's obviously a win already! I am quite pleased and I would recommend this box to anyone! Head over to POPSUGAR and give it a try! It's $39.95 a month, but if you use the promo code "REFER5" you'll receive $5.00 off your first box! >>--> Kelli <--<< |
