Loot Crate has revealed their May theme in the form of the exclusive pin they send with every crate! May's theme is: ADVENTURE!!
This means items from Adventure Time, Zelda and Minecraft to help you on your epic quests!! AND there's an exclusive T-shirt in May's crate as well! I don't know much about Minecraft but my roommate and I LOVE Adventure Time and he and his brother grew up playing Zelda so I'm very excited for this one! I can't wait for this crate - are you gonna jump on this too?! Use the promo code "MAYLOOT" to receive $3.00 off any subscription!
I was SO excited when I found out the theme for this month's Loot Crate was DRAGON. Being completely entranced by Game of Thrones, I knew it had to be good! I had cancelled my subscription the month before because I wasn't interested in receiving any Titanfall products, but I had them reactivate me as soon as I heard.
These were fun to find - but we seriously have like 50 of these around the house. My roommate is all about Magic: The Gathering so they're everywhere. The squishy stress dice is just really funny and will probably just sit on a shelf but he does actually like the blue/white dice so that's going to him!
I got a screen cleaner much like this (although not a dragon shield) in one of my Birchboxes and I actually did stick it to my phone and use it quite often. But since then, I've gotten a new phone case that doesn't really have a smooth place to stick this on. The cleaner itself is pretty big so it would take up a lot of room on my phone. I'm afraid I won't be using this unless I just carry it around in my purse. Unfortunately, I can't get a dollar value on this because it was made by Loot Crate Labs, just for this box.
I'm not too thrilled about this item either. I wouldn't wear it anywhere and I don't know anyone who would so I don't know what I'll do with this. Also, can't get a dollar value because it was also made by Loot Crate Labs.
Firstly, this stuff looks pretty gross. I know it's not supposed to be appetizing, per se, but the green flakes all over it don't look too good to me. Normally, I'm all for beef jerky, but this doesn't look very edible to me. So I checked out Harcos Labs website and this stuff looks exactly like their Zombie Jerky so I'm going off of that dollar value. They sell Zombie Jerky in 1lb bags for $20.00 - this package is 1/2oz, so that's less than $1.00 in value. I'm not too impressed with this so far. And most likely, I won't be eating this.
This is a Loot Crate exclusive item. There are other vinyl figures just like this, but slightly different so they may have modified the design for this box. I haven't played Elder Scrolls and don't know much about it, so this doesn't mean THAT much to me, but I like it, and it'll be going on the shelf. At least my roommate knows about this game.
Funko & HBO - Game of Thrones Mystery Mini - Robb Stark - Retail $6.99
So we FINALLY get to the only Game of Thrones themed item in the box, and it's not even a character I really like. I understand that's the deal with the mystery minis and all, but I was kinda hoping there would be a redeeming item in this box from GoT. Oh well.
I had such higher hopes for this crate. I was so excited about all the possible Game of Thrones items that could be included but I can't believe there was only one GoT item. I'm not sure I'll be keeping this subscription any more. It's sooo hit or miss for me so I don't think it's worth it. I really enjoy opening these boxes and the anticipation of what I'll get, but I was just so disappointed this month. I can't even get a total dollar value of the box because 5 of the 7 items were Loot Crate Labs items. Not that that's a problem, because exclusivity is also value - but I would have enjoyed more products that I've heard of or that seemed more functional or relevant. I'm sure other people enjoyed this box though, so I know this is all just my personal opinion, but this box was not worth the $13.37 + $6.00 shipping to me.
Sometimes the themes are really great and the items are well worth it - so I hope this was one of those months for you! Just because I didn't particularly enjoy this box, I do recommend this box for anyone who's interested in gaming, pop culture or just general nerdom! So if you'd like to give Loot Crate a try, head over to www.lootcrate.com to sign up for monthly, 3-month, 6-month, or yearly subscriptions! Use the coupon code "APRILLOOT" to receive $3.00 off any subscription! >>--> Kelli <--<<
When Indie Gift Box first started offering subscriptions, they decided to include a bonus gift for anyone who subscribes! The gift you receive will be increasingly better depending on the length of the subscription option you choose. Since I personally can't afford or justify spending so much money up-front, I only signed up for the monthly subscription. Here is the bonus gift I received today (earlier than expected too!)
There was also a little note from Lisa and Regan, seen on the left, thanking me for subscribing!
Indie Gift Box Pencils
I don't normally use pencils, but I'll be bringing these to work!
I love the colors on the eraser attachment!
Pear Tree Greetings - More Macaroons, Please Stationary Set - Retail ~$12.99
This stationary set is adorable. There is a notepad, a thank you card and a small "just because" card both with envelopes. The notepad will also be coming with me to work as a nice new addition to my desk. I'm usually writing notes on about a million different post-its so it'll be nice to have this! Check out other Pear Tree products here!
This was a really cute bonus gift and I'm definitely glad I signed up for a subscription. No more waiting somewhat patiently on the morning of box release days to make sure I get one! I strongly suggest you sign up too if you know you're going to want to get every box! Head over to www.indiegiftbox.com to subscribe! I'd love to see what other kinds of bonus gifts people get! >>--> Kelli <--<<
Fair Ivy recently added a new subscription option: the mystery box. Before, they had 2 options: jewelry and duet (one handmade item and one handmade jewelry item). After popular demand, they created the mystery box, which is just the one handmade item each month. I decided to give it a try because I really liked my duet box I got in February.
This month's item is from The Levingstons. The packaging is really nice looking too!
These cards are prints of handpainted works of art by Rachelle Levingston in Utah. They're very pretty and I like most of the designs. There are two of each and 10 nice envelopes. I definitely know one or both of the rabbit ones are going to my mother! The picture actually reminds me of our latest bunny, Peanut, except she was more brown and white. Same chubby little face! I'll use the bird ones for my grandmother and one of my friends loves sunflowers so one of those is probably going to her! The owls are ALL MINE. I'm sure I'll find a use for all of these, whether I send them to friends and family or just hang them up. You can check out her Etsy shop here! I paid $16.00 plus $6.00 flat rate shipping and received an estimated $16.00 worth of items. I'm estimating the dollar value because Rachelle's Etsy shop has 8 cards for $14.00 but I received 10, so it's slightly higher. While I would never ever spend this much on greeting cards, I still think they're nice. If you'd like to give Fair Ivy a try, head over to www.fairivy.com to sign up! It's a great monthly box for women! >>--> Kelli <--<<

Eco Emi's products are always health and eco conscious and they usually do a very good job of providing a great variety of items.
Tropical Liquid Drink Mix by Organic Flavrz
Made with organic fruits and natural ingredients, this drink mix tastes like the real deal! Just pour into a tall glass of cold water and enjoy the luscious taste of agave nectar and organic cane sugar.
When I first saw this in the box I thought it was another one of those fruit squeeze packets which I think are gross but I was happy to find out that it is for putting in water and I will definitely give this a try!
Bath Fizzy by Fortune Cookie Soap Company
The Tree of Life
This might be a bonus product because there is no mention of it. It's pretty self explanatory though.
Earth Day Flower Seed Packet by RamblinRiver
This is a customized seed packet. These seeds are for sunflowers, which I love and are fairly easy to grow. I might be able to actually see them grow, but there is no guarantee. I'm the queen of the brown thumb!
Honey Organic Stinger Waffle by Honey Stinger
This certified USDA organic treat is drizzle with honey and sandwiched between two thin waffles.
We've had these before and they are delicious. It has already been consumed.
Whitening Plus Toothpaste & Ultra Care Toothpaste by Desert Essence
These are all natural toothpastes that actually work. The ultra care toothpaste is a combination of baking soda and sea salt combined with the plaque fighting properties of Myrrh and Zinc Citrate. The whitening toothpaste helps remove stains with the powerful aid of bamboo fiber and baking soda.
Vegan Edible Love Dust in Cocoa Sparkle by All Natural Face
This shimmery sparkle is made with organic cornstarch, raw sugar, cocoa and mica making it edible! You don't have to lick it off but you can if you want to.
Hmmmm....where am I going to wear this product? If you see me sparkling some day then you know I decided that was the day!
Natural Lavender Eye Makeup Remover by Homespun Northwest
Made with the purest ingredients, this vegan eye makeup remover doesn't harm the eyelashes or the surrounding skin.
Well....since I don't wear eye makeup....I don't know if this will get tested or not.
I like getting Eco Emi a lot. The past few boxes haven't really been that exciting for me though. The time has come for me to decide whether I'm going to continue with this sub or not. I'm having trouble deciding. The problem is, if I decide to cancel my subscription, then I'm going to look to see what the next month was and I'm going to love it and then I'll just be mad! Oh the dilemmas I face.
Eco Emi is $15 per month - and now they have just introduced that they are doing 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions which brings the prices to $14/$13 and $12, respectively.
I finally decided to try a Fancy Mystery Box because I had seen a few reviews of them and they looked like fun. By the time I ordered mine, they had changed the ordering options to include small, medium and large ($10, $20 and $40 plus varying shipping charges). I chose to try a medium mystery box because I wasn't sure what to expect and I didn't want to spend $40.00 on my first try.
Archipelago - Gingerbread Holiday Travel Tin Candle - Retail $15.00
I was actually really excited to see this candle in the box. I received a cinnamon clove scented candle, same brand and size, in the first Fancy box I got and I love it. It's almost all burned up too, so this one will be a nice replacement. The gingerbread smell is delicious too!
This box was so intriguing from the start! The front is holographic and the colors are very eye-catching. I've never actually heard of this brand or type of nail polish before, but after reading up on it, it's really really cool! I wish I had gotten literally any other color than pink, but knowing what it does will definitely make me try it out. First, you put the color on, then sprinkle the glitter, then paint on the top coat and it will glow in the dark! Can't wait to try it!
Stuff Every Woman Should Know by Alanna Kalb - Retail $10.00
This should definitely be entertaining, to say the least. It seems pretty packed full of answers to questions most women have. Some of it is pretty essential information: how to ask for a raise, how to change a tire, etc. Some it seems kinda frivolous: how to have style, how to flirt, purse essentials, etc. But like I said, it'll be quite entertaining. I'm just going to ignore the fact that mine came with some junk on the front cover, seemingly where a sticker used to be. I'm definitely going to give this a read though!
This made absolutely no sense to me because I had never seen anything like it before! I had to look it up to really get what it was - but once I did, I love it!! You can put loose-leaf tea in the removable diffuser which hangs on the lid - tilt the mug over onto the specialized handle and let gravity do the work! Once it's steeped, tilt it back and enjoy! This is really really cool because I've ended up with so much loose-leaf tea from boxes and such but I don't have anything to put it in. This is perfect and a really great idea!
The StoneCutter - 45° Tilt Mug - Retail $15.00
When I first opened this box, I actually wasn't too thrilled. Nothing really jumped out at me to make it worth the money I spent - but looking back on the review now, I did enjoy each item and it was fun to learn more about them. It's making me want to buy more mystery boxes to see what else I'll find! Plus you can't ignore the value! I paid $20.00 plus $7.95 shipping but with coupon code "FOLLOWUP10" I saved $2.00 and another dollar for a Fancy Rebate. Overall, I received $65.00 worth of items! If you'd like to give a Fancy Mystery Box a try, head over to www.fancy.com now! They have a small ($10), medium ($20), and large ($40) option for both men and women! Everyone gets something different! >>--> Kelli <--<<

These delicious fruit spreads are slow cooked with absolutely no added sugar to preserve the nutrients of the natural fruit.
Creamed Honey with Chocolate Mint by Vintage Bee
Honey is packed with natural energy. This is a chocolate mint enhanced version. It sounds really weird but I can't wait to try it!
Almonds with Cranberries, Honey & Sea Salt by Sahale Snacks
This is a salty-sweet protein packed treat.
Popcorn by Crave Canyon
Aged White Cheddar & Hatch Green Chile
This flavored might be pretty strange. I love my popcorn though. Did you know that the average American eats 54 quarts of popcorn a year? If I only knew what was considered average...
This is another fun box from Love with Food. I'm looking forward to trying all of my new items.
Love with Food is $12 a month if you subscribe and pay monthly. $11 a month if you purchase a 6 month plan and $10 a month if you purchase a 12 month plan. They also have a Deluxe box that is $19.95/$18/$17.
You can get your first month for just $2 by using the coupon code YUMMY when signing up! You cancel at any time.
Indie Gift Box's theme this month is "Sweet Spring" - it's all about freshening up the mood after winter! This is one of my favorite subscription boxes to look forward to each month and when they release the theme and little hints ahead of time, it's so fun!
I love all their new design features! The presentation is always so pretty and there's a card detailing all the items inside.
Lily & Val - "Happy Spring" chalk art card - Retail $3.50
Lily & Val create a lot of chalkboard art, including cards like this one, larger prints, notebooks, wrapping paper, etc. I really like the idea. Chalkboard art isn't something you can usually keep and making prints of it is a great idea. Check out their other work here!
I'm assuming there was some variation between subscribers which card they received but I love mine! I love poppies and it looks like she does too! Watercolor art is always beautiful and unique so I'm all for this. There are also 6 small stickers that came with this - also adorable! This card is already hanging up on the fridge :) This even came with a 20% off promo code so maybe I'll have to buy a bigger print to hang up!
Popwheel Art - Watercolor artist trading card - "Day Dreaming" by Jennifer Comstock - Retail $3.00
Koco & Viking - French macaron necklace - Retail $20.00
This handmade necklace is by a mother/daughter duo in California who want to memorialize their two amazing dogs, Koco and Viking, through each piece they make. I can definitely relate to the mother/daughter duo thing! :) This necklace is made out of clay into the shape of a macaron. I've never had one, but everyone I know who has raves about them. I'll definitely have to try one now! When I saw that these were going to be included in this month's box, I was hoping for the green one, just because that's my favorite color. I'm not crazy about purple, but maybe it'll go with something I would wear. Check out their other works here! They have a lot of beautiful wooden-looking pieces too!
Closeup of the detail
These little things are so cute! And I've always loved those sugar embellishments on cakes and desserts. Now I can make my desserts fancy! Marion's Vintage Bakery makes beautiful cakes and cupcakes and other decorative materials. Check out their other delicious desserts and supplies here and check out their blog here!
Mercantile519 - Vintage filigree flower ring - Retail $5.00
I've seen a lot of Mercantile519's items around other subscription boxes and I'm glad I finally have one of their pieces! They have a lot of knit accessories like hats and scarves too (particularly the Jayne hate from Firefly!) I love the design of this ring, the color is beautiful and the detail of the band is gorgeous!
There's also a 20% off promo code so I might have to get some matching earrings!
This is simply adorable. I love the creativity of the presentation! I also loved push-ups my whole life so this is a really nostalgic item. ALTHOUGH, it's not for consumption! As delicious as it looks, this is filled with sugar scrub and shea butter soap disks. It smells really good too so I can't wait to give it a try! It's just so cute, I'm gonna be sad when it's gone and just an empty push-up container. All of their products look so yummy and so clever! This item is 4oz. so it's a really great size too! Check out their other delicious LOOKING items here! Just don't eat them!
My Lucky Dragon - Cotton candy body scrub - Retail $8.00
Bungalow Bath and Body - Pink frosted cupcake lip balm - Retail $??
This was a bonus gift for signing up for a subscription! Each subscriber got a free gift for subscribing, the longer the subscription, the better the gift! I signed up for the month-to-month subscription (because I couldn't afford that much up-front) so now I'm guaranteed a box each month! I can't get a value on this lip balm though because the owner of the etsy shop is on vacation.
I'm so glad I signed up for a subscription! I always got really nervous each release day trying to get on the website early enough to secure a box! They always had enough to go around but I definitely like the reassurance each month! I paid $24.50 + $5.00 shipping and received almost $50.00 worth of items! That's probably the best value I've ever seen in an IGB! This month's theme was very fresh and bright! If you'd like to give Indie Gift Box a try, you can either wait until box release days and buy that month's box, or you can sign up for a monthly, 3 month, 6 month or annual subscription! And don't forget the free gift when you subscribe! Head over to www.indiegiftbox.com now! >>--> Kelli <--<<
Orange Glad costs $15 per month plus shipping and handling or you can go with a 3 month subscription at $14, or 6 months at $13.
You can also do a 1 time gift box to someone for $15 plus shipping & handling. On all boxes you can add $12 to get double the treats.
Personally I cannot imagine getting a box like this every month. No one needs all this sugar! I can see maybe doing a gift box for someone. That would be kind of a unique gift especially for some of those people who don't need anything.
I got this box for $10 and free shipping, so it was worth a try for me but in the long run this is not a box I would ever subscribe to. It seems to me that it is more of a 1 time thing. Nothing against any of the items in there, they are definitely of high quality. As I said, I just don't think it's something that people need coming to their door every month. I will keep it in mind for gift purposes for someone though.
This is only my second Umba box but I really like the idea of it. It's the smaller of their two subscription box options: the discover box and the delight box. Each month you receive 2-3 artisan products. For someone who's obsessed with Etsy, like me, this box is quite an excitement each month!
This month, they surprised me with their packaging! My last one was a small square box.
Heartfelt by Lisa Leonard - 11" x 14" Art Print - Retail $18.00
Lisa Leonard started her business after her son was born with a severe disability and needed a creative outlet. I think the story behind her business makes me like this piece even more - but I was surprised to see that it wasn't an actual ink print (like a screenprint or something), it's literally printed on a paper. Though that's not surprising at the same time because it sounds like her business has been doing really well. I love the design - silhouettes get me every time and the use of negative space as the lettering is really visually appealing. It's a strong piece of art that would look great framed on my wall. What really got me is this line in the description: "Lisa finds beauty in brokenness: her heart has been broken, stitched up, and is stronger than ever, which inspires each piece." Lisa's other works can be found here!
I had heard of World Finds before but I didn't really do much digging into what it really was before. It's an artist collective that provides sustainable employment to hundreds of women in India. They get steady income, education and health care, which is really most important.
World Finds - Recycled Sari Headband - Retail $18.00
Geeta left school early to help support her family (which includes 6 younger siblings) and found a fair trade group, Toucan Krafte, about a year ago. She learned how to make jewelry and other crafts and now helps teach other women in her community. Now she can afford to help support her family and send her younger siblings to school. I really like this headband - especially the colors. It might take me a few tries to get the positioning right, but I love the design and it's just so authentic. It's made from recycled Kantha, which are the quilts made for centuries by Indian women. They would take the softest parts of all their saris and pieced them together with a running stitch to make blankets for their babies.
I love Umba. I love what they do for artisans and I love the pieces they choose to include in their Discovery Box. I hope that someday I can try a Delight Box too! I paid $25.00 + $5.00 shipping for this box and I received $36.00 worth of items! But like I always say, the value isn't just in money. Clearly, there are deeper meanings behind these items and I love that they share their stories through the items they make. If you'd like to give Umba a try, their two subscription options are the Delight Box for $49.00 + $7.00 shipping, or the Discover Box for $25.00 + $5.00 shipping. Head over to www.umba.com and sign up now! They offer a variety of subscription lengths, as well as month-to-month. >>--> Kelli <--<<
