Hazel Lane is definitely up there in my list of favorite subscription boxes. It all started with a Gilt City deal that allowed me to afford a 3-month Deluxe subscription, which at any other time would have been OUT of the question. I was instantly hooked and slipped into a depression when my 3 months were up. But then, the wonderful ladies at Hazel Lane started offering the Mini Explorer box for just $24.99 (shipping included)! So, I was as happy as could be because I didn't have to miss out and get jealous of every picture I saw. One thing that bums me out though is that Mini subscribers no longer get their products in a box with the fancy new logo on it! I was a little disappointed when I saw a plain white bag. I understand - we get less stuff, but I wish that didn't mean we get less packing material and protection as more expensive subscriptions. So that's my only complaint - this just doesn't fill me with excitement as much as the fancy boxes. :( |
While I'm not crazy about getting gift tags in subscription boxes, I like the designs on these and I think I'll use them to decorate my cubicle at work. My boring grey walls could always use a few pops of color! These can really be used for anything - the packaging suggests gift tags, place cards, glass name tags, etc. They're also made from 100% recycled paper! |
This seems to be the pride of this month's box. This is a retired menu/map from Trick Dog that features all the best places around San Francisco to find a great drink! Hazel Lane got exclusive access to this map just for subscribers so you really can't put a price on it! I like this a lot. I like the old-timey feel to it. I should have taken a picture of both sides, but the other side is the "front" of the tourist map if you were to tri-fold it, as well as a list of the different drinks you can find. I've always wanted to visit San Francisco too so this is really fun for me! Some day I'll make it there and I'll bring this with me to track these places down! | This definitely caught my eye right away, being the chocolate lover that I am. It's made by a female-founded company and features non-dairy chocolate that is "so beyond creamy you won't ever remember that it's 'vegan' by the time you take your second bite!" I guess I never really thought about chocolate being vegan or not - but luckily I don't have any sort of diet restrictions so ANY type of chocolate is great with me! I'm excited to try this (that's right, I haven't even opened it yet!) because I love sea salt and chocolate together. And olive oil is new to me! |
The ladies at Hazel Lane (and myself) have a deep love for coffee so of course, they would include some of the best coffee they've ever had. This San Francisco original is going to be really fun to try! This is actually the first blend of coffee Philz ever created and after seven years, consists of the most valuable and complex jewels of coffee. They say this is the way coffee should taste. This is recommended as the first blend of coffee you should try if you've never been there before. |
This candle has SUCH an interesting smell - I can barely stop smelling it. This is a locally produced, hand poured soy wax candle that contains pure essential oils blended to give off rich, inspiring aromas of lime, palo santo and cinnamon that recall the rich, cultural energy of The Mission. The label boasts that this candle uplifts mood, purifies energy and emotionally heals. Sounds like I need to light this baby up, STAT. I absolutely love getting candles in subscription boxes. I don't know why - I actually rarely light candles, but just having them all over the place is my favorite. The looks and smells mixing is the best. |
This box has a total retail value of $27.00 - which isn't too bad considering the $24.99 price tag (with shipping included). I'm not too concerned about retail value with this box because I know Hazel Lane is great at curation.
