I decided to give Escape Monthly another try because I keep up on other people's reviews and I always enjoy reading about this box. I first tried this one when they spotlighted Colorado last year and I really liked everything in the box. This month's theme was London so I thought that was a good time to jump back in. When I was a child I lived in London for 3 years and although the memories are vague and I'm losing more each year, there are certain things that still stand out in my mind. I used a discount code that got me this box at half price and my plan had been to switch to the new Escape Mini box after getting this one, but I compared a Mini London review with my box and it convinced me to stay with the full box. |
This tin of English Breakfast Tea is one of the reasons I'm staying with the full box. The mini box tea did not come in this great tin. I think it adds to the box in a great way. The tin contains 14 bags of tea and has a retail price of $11.00. This full-sized Orico Ultra Moisturizing hand lotion was a free bonus item that you were supposed to get by using a certain code when signing up. I didn't use that code, because I was using a half off code but I ended up with this lotion anyway and I am so glad I did! (None of the other reviews I looked at had this included so somehow I got lucky!) I can't even describe how delicious this lotion smells. It smells like you should be able to eat it and it would taste so good. It's kind of orangey but also kind of waffle cone sugary good too. It has mandarin and orange essential oils in it which must make it smell so good. This retails for $22.00 | Modeled after the once ubiquitous Austin International FX4, this quaint diecast taxi is the perfect keepsake. Known as "The Black Cab" over 75,000 of these iconic taxis have picked up passengers on London's streets over the years. $12.00 Walker's Nonsuch is one of England's oldest and finest toffee makers. Following the same traditional recipe that's been used for years, the simple ingredients come together to make this quintessentially British treat. These are delicious and I will savor each and every one! $4.50 |
Soapsmith has perfected the art of soap making, hand mixing the finest ingredients with "lashings of skill and a generous sprinkling of passion." This 3 piece soap sampler will leave your skin soft and silky. These soaps smell really nice too. $8.00 | Hydrate and protect your skin from winter winds and this vitamin-rich, rapidly absorbing and ultra nourishing organic body oil, ingredients like Rosehip, Madadamia oil, and cell regenerating Baobab Oil make for a luxurious spa experience. It's a good thing someone though to put these little bottles in their own little bags because both of them leaked, but thankfully only inside the bag. $7.00 <---- BONUS ITEM! Made with the freshest British potatoes, these delicious "crisps" are fried using sunflower oil to ensure the perfect curl and crunch with every bite. These chips looked awesome and I was really looking forward to eating them but I tried just one and the taste was way too weird. I really wanted to like them but I just couldn't! $3.00 |
And finally, the last item is the Rick Steve's London Travel Guide. From bustling Trafalgar Square to the Tower of London, Rick Steve's offers a perfect guide to exploring everything London has to offer. Use it to learn about this great city or start planning your next vacation! $19.99 Escape Monthly is $49.95 a month, but if you use the discount code MYESCAPE you will get 20% off the life of your subscription, which brings it to $39.95 a month. This is still a pretty expensive box, which is why I was interested in the Escape Mini which is $24.95 a month. I guess I will continue to compare the 2 and switch when the time seems right.
