This month's escape was to Hawaii. I think there were a lot of subscribers waiting anxiously for this box. Hawaii is a very popular destination to escape to!
I would not mind being in Hawaii - I just don't want to make the trek there. It's too long. Unless I could get there by ship I imagine I will never go there. I'm just over the whole flying chaos and try to keep my trips to just a few hours.
This box will probably be the closest I get. It's a nice box, worth $39.95? Not likely. It's those darn travel books - does anyone really want them in the box? I know I sure don't and I don't like paying for them. In any case, here are the items that come in a Hawaii Escape box.
Wholesome ingredients come together for an unbelievable crunch in every bite. Grown with pure rainfall, Royal Hawaiian is a local favorite that follows traditional Hawaiian farming and land care practices.
Hawaii is big on Macadamia nuts. Made with local ingredients and just the right amount of sweetness, this scrumptious treat will have you coming back for more. Take your taste buds on a trip around the islands!
With so much to explore in Hawaii, it helps to have a guide who can point the right direction. Use your Moon Guide and discover all the best kept secrets of these enchanting islands.
I don't really have a problem with the guide itself, but the $19.95 value is inflated - probably to make the box seem like it's worth a higher value and really, unless you plan to go there - I just find it worthless.
I would much rather see that amount of money put into more local and cultural items.
Relax and unwind with this soothing blend of natural Hawaiian salt crystals infused with Wild Lehua, Wild Kinehe, and Wild Yellow Ginger. Relieve your stress and anxiety - tropically!
This is listed as a bonus item. Hand collected right from the sandy shorelines, this seashell gift made from nassa shells and cowries is a special part of the island you can keep forever.
The detail brochure says I received a body wash and a body lotion - and obviously this is shampoo OR it's labeled wrong? Either way, these are made with real noni papaya, and pineapple extracts in pure Hawaiian water with aloe leaf juice.
Made with real raw Hawaiian Pupukea honey and organic extra virgin olive oil, this ultra soothing face & eye cream duo will bring the life of the islands to your skin, giving you that Hawaiian glow.
That's good because I could really use a glow right about now!
I do like this month's box. I think it might be a bit overpriced for what you get, but as I said, a lot of it comes from the value of that travel guide. In the future though, I really want to see more and more products that are really local and culturally relevant to lend authenticity to the box.
Escape Monthly is $49.95 a month, but if you use the discount code MYESCAPE you will get 20% off the life of your subscription, which brings it to $39.95 a month. Also, remember to be on the look out for Black Friday sales this coming week - many subscription boxes have great deals!
