I was really looking forward to this month's Hip Humanitarian because it sounded perfect for December. The theme this month is Cozy and all the essentials for winter were promised. Hip Humanitarian has 3 types of subscription boxes: the Minimalist, Hollywood and the Free Spirit. This review is of the Free Spirit box. |
Hazelnut is my favorite flavor of coffee and I always welcome more into my house. This is by a family owned company who fairly trades their organic coffee beans and even started their own community aide program! | I love candles and subscription boxes have probably tripled my collection - and that's totally fine with me! I'm not sure what scent this candle is actually supposed to be but as soon as I open the lid, all I can smell is Pez. Also totally fine with me! It smells crisp and citrus-y. It's a good size and made from soy. This candle was handmade by Moo Kho from Burma. Their website says this scent is fresh lemongrass and sparkling citrus notes. |
Well, if this was actually full size, that'd be awesome - but this is a very small sample. It's made from organic beeswax, olive oil, organic honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, and propolis. All of these ingredients come together to make an all natural, all over organic healing skin cream. You can use it on scars and burns and to moisturize dry, cracked or irritated skin. I'll keep this handy at work because my office is so cold and dry, my hands need some healing power. |
This company was actually made famous by Shark Tank. I like these, but I wish I had gotten the ones in the Minimalist or Hollywood boxes. I think they look like much higher quality and are thicker. These are thin and cheap looking to me. I kinda like the design and colors, but the rest just isn't that great to me. I'll use them, that's not the issue, I just would have preferred the thicker woven ones. Oh well. That's what comes with subscription boxes. Grace & Lace is currently partnered with Angel House and donate a portion of their sales towards building orphanages in India! | This keychain was made with beautiful leather and textiles by artisans in Guatemala. I like the keychain and it's a good size - not too giant to actually put on keys, so I'll definitely use it. I'm not crazy about the colors (too much purple for my taste) but I like that it was handmade and definitely appreciate that. The gift card - it's for $30.00 off custom order boots from Teysha. Initially, I got really excited about this and immediately went to check out my options. I instantly fell in love with the style and choices. Then.... I saw the price. Thirty dollars off my order was NOT going to help. The cheapest pair of boots is $200.00! The CHEAPEST. So.. that won't get used unfortunately. I really, really like the boots and I couldn't help but design my dream pair.. which turned out to be $240.00 before the gift card. Then I had to close the browser because there's no freaking way I'm paying $200.00 on 1 pair of boots, not matter how gorgeous they are. |
They also offer 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions, but if you don't want to sign up for a recurring subscription, you can try one box for $32.00 (plus shipping). If you'd like to give The Hip Humanitarian a try, head over to www.thehiphumanitarian.com and check out their "lifestyle" choices to see which would be the best fit for you! I've been getting the Free Spirit box but I'm considering switching it up and trying the Minimalist box for a while.
