I decided to try Escape Monthly again because I had cancelled my subscription many months ago. I got an email to get the Japan box for half off so I figured, why not? I had heard some of the spoilers and they sounded pretty cool. |
This is a really cute little wind chime but the paper thing is all folded up from being put in the box so it doesn't actually look that good. Plus it came off almost immediately so I'm not sure if I'll put it back on or not. It kind of just looks like a bookmark tied to a wind chime. | I've seen these in grocery stores before, but usually covered in chocolate. I'm not sure I've ever seen the green tea kind, so I was excited to try them. I love green tea and these taste just like green tea ice cream, which I also LOVE. I've already eaten half the box. They're a great little treat. |
I've already gotten 2 of these from other subscription boxes so I wasn't exactly thrilled by this one - but aside from that, I think this was a great addition to the box. This is actually one of two things in the box I could find that's entirely authentically Japanese. I'll get to that later. I do like these though, so I am okay with having a couple extras. |
I love these! They're gorgeous! I've seen a few other styles in other subscribers' boxes but I like how simple these ones are. I think they look more traditional (but what do I know?). I doubt I'll actually use them very often though, but I think they'll look cool in my kitchen. | I still don't like that these books take up so much of the retail value. I think a smaller, cheaper book would be just as effective and would leave room for more items in the box. I'm sure this will come in handy if I ever make my way to Japan, like I hope, but that's far in the future. |
Now, as a whole I really do like this box. My only complaints are the high value of the book (which is essentially useless to me at this point) and that only a couple items were actually made in Japan. There were actual tags on a couple items that said Made In China....... so.. that's a bummer. |
Regardless of the above - I decided to keep my subscription for another month. But.. that's only because I was charged the full price for another month like a day after I got this box, and almost a month before I was told I would be charged again. SO, when I emailed about getting charged again, I was offered half off again for the next box. Next month's destination is The Rocky Mountains and of course, living in Colorado, I definitely want to see what they'll include. I already got a Colorado Escape box last year so I'm interested to see what will be different this time around. The total retail value of this box was $63.94. If you'd like to give Escape Monthly a try, head over to www.escapemonthly.com to sign up! Be sure to use the promo code 'YOURESCAPE' for 20% off for the life of your subscription! Each box is $49.95 but only $39.95 with the 20% off discount. |
