Comic Block is the newest subscription box option by Nerd Block. I had to jump on this as soon as I saw it because I'm all about expanding my comic book collection. Plus, I knew this would be full of variant covers and those are always fun to have. |
And here's a shot of the inside because the artwork is always really important to me when deciding whether to read a comic or not. | "This first issue is sure to be a hit with fans of the DC universe because it stars heroes from crisis on infinite Earths! Superman teams up with Power Girl, but can they stop a nuclear strike by Lex Luthor and Stalin of Red Son Moscow?" I'm actually not a huge fan of the DC universe - I prefer Marvel - but I think this will be an interesting read. |
"Not only is this a much-coveted #1 issue from Image Comics, it's also a Comic Block exclusive variant! In Mythic, science is a lie, an opiate for the masses. The truth is, magic makes the world go 'round. And when magic breaks, Mythic fixes it." This one looks really good! I really love the variant cover too! The whole look of this comic book is very appealing to me. This will be my next read. | Here is a shot of the inside - I like the artwork. There's also a preview of Mythic #2 set to release June 24th that's all black and white - so I'm interested to see if the whole comic will be. |
The artwork in this one is very good! I loved reading and looking through this issue. Another thing I really liked was the fonts they used. I know that might sound weird, but I have a thing for fonts. They used different fonts for each person/Earth which I found really helpful trying to keep track of who was speaking. I'm telling you, this one is chaotic! | "Time runs out. Everything ends. The secret wars have commenced! This first issue of Marvel's giant even from Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic is already a collector's item, but what you have is even better: A rare Comic Block exclusive variant edition!" This one, I read as soon as I opened the box! I've been looking forward to the Secret Wars for a while. It's so chaotic! I loved this one - it's a BIT hard to follow because of the seemingly overlapping characters and colliding Earths, but this was a great read! |
Unfortunately, I can't find any information on the artist behind this print - but the initials at the corner say "TK 15" so if anyone knows, I'd love to give them credit. I think this print is great! It's exclusive to Comic Block subscribers and is printed on 6.5x10 card stock. | It appears a lot of people really liked this shirt and I think it was a great first choice for the premiere box - but I'm not a fan of The Simpsons at all - even though I really like the style and design of this shirt. I gave this to my roommate who likes this sort of thing. This is also an exclusive T-shirt for Comic Block subscribers so I'm going by the suggested retail value on the tag provided by Nerd Block. |
I am really impressed with the first Comic Block! I loved the comic books they chose to include and I love that the majority of them had variant covers - which definitely increases the overall value. I also really like that every box includes a T-shirt because that automatically pays for the whole box by itself. Unfortunately for me, this shirt wasn't a hit with me - but I do feel like I got my money's worth with this box. I haven't yet decided whether I'm going to continue this subscription or not - but I think I might give it another month or so. My comic book collection appreciates it! |
