Candy Jar is not a subscription service, but a service that allows you to go to their site and choose the size jar you want and then proceed to fill it with the candy of your choice. You have lots of different candy to choose from, chocolates, fruity, gummy, chewy, etc. You basically go through and choose the candy and then it adds a "scoop" of that candy to your jar. There are different sized jars that you can choose from. I chose the smallest jar which costs $19.99. |
I am a confessed candy addict. I couldn't wait for my jar to arrive. I'm almost 50 years old and this shouldn't be something that excites me so much...but what can I say? Once an addict ~ always an addict, I guess. I was the kid who ate everything out of my Easter basket and then wondered why I didn't feel so good. I didn't know that wasn't normal.
I love fruity, sour, chewy candy and I love chocolate. When I was choosing my scoops, I thought they were literally going to scoop the candy into the jar and it would be all mixed together. I imagined the sugar sand that comes on some of the candy to be mixed with all the other candy - and I would have loved that! I know most people would not though so I understand why they don't do it that way. I did dump mine in the jar together ~ so I can still enjoy it that way! Well, I dumped all that I have left in the jar. Some of the candy didn't make it long enough to be introduced to the jar. I ordered one scoop of some dark chocolate mint meltaways and boy do I wish I ordered MORE of those! YUMMY! I also have some dark chocolate covered walnuts that are just amazing. If you desired, you could fill your whole jar with chocolate. I purposely didn't order much chocolate because I wasn't sure if their chocolate was quality. Let me tell you that it IS. None of that crappy, cheap chocolate here. I can attest this for the dark chocolate anyway.
I added in some things that I had never tried before, and some things that I just knew would be good. I love spiced gumdrops so I thought a scoop of those would be nice. When I was ordering, swedish fish were out of stock, or those would have certainly been in there too.
I thought this was a fun treat to give myself, and I really like the jar that comes with it. It's plastic but I love that it says Candy Jar on it. Next time, I just might go for the 1/2 gallon size and I will have a set! It was a lot of fun and we are enjoying the treats. I definitely will get some more chocolate next time.
I think this is a cool idea for a gift, especially if that someone just has everything and you just want to give them something unique and different. Just let someone know you are thinking of them. There is a kid in most of us that would be delighted to receive a jar of candy.
If you'd like to order your own Candy Jar, please visit: http://www.candyjar.com/ I'm not sure which discount code that I used to get the $10 off, but be sure to look for codes before purchasing. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for current codes. UPDATE: Try using the code first-order-1 to get $10 off! Kelli was able to order using that code so we know it's currently good.
